Starters are deemed to kick-start your appetite for the subsequent course of the meal. There’s more to Indian starters than you may think- be it vegetarian or non-vegetarian, they can do the knack to make your curry night a super hit.

Chilli Paneer 

Chilli paneer is an enormous hit with vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. The flavors are implausible and everyone has their own panache of making it. 

Shami Kebab

Shami kebab is an assortment of kebab made by blending crushed lamb, mutton, or beef with split chickpeas, chilis, ginger, onions garlic, and several herbs and spices like cumin, red chili flakes, garam masala, and mint leaves. The meat mixture is then shaped into round patties, which are then layered with beaten eggs and pan-fried until their exterior becomes crunchy, but the patties continue to be silky on the inside.

Masala Papad

Masala papad is a traditional Indian snack that’s topped with a blend of tangy and spicy ingredients. Masala papad is customarily served as a snack or an appetizer, though it can also be served as an accompaniment to numerous Indian meals.

Chilli Paneer

Chilli paneer is a conventional Indo-Chinese dish that’s served as an appetizer. The dish comprises paneer cheese cut into cubes, fried, and blended with a sweet, sour, and spicy sauce.

Gobi Manchurian

Gobi Manchurian is a customary indo-Chinese dish entailing fried cauliflower (gobi) stirred in a sweet and spicy sauce (Manchurian). There are two variants of the snack– dry and gravy. The dry version is generally served as an appetizer or a bar snack with ketchup on the side as a dipping sauce, whilst the gravy version attributes a thick sauce made with cornstarch, and it’s generally served as a main dish with rice on the side, either fried or steamed.

Paneer Tikka

This North Indian tikka assortment comprises marinated paneer cheese and vegetables prepared in a tandoor – a prevalent Indian oven. This vegetarian variant of tikka is based on paneer, soft cheese with a smooth texture.

Several paneers, tomatoes, onions, and peppers are skewered, roasted, and seasoned with lemon juice and chaat masala – a peppery powder. 

Onion Pakora

Crunchy and tasty onion pakora prepared with gram flour is well-known Indian street food. It is one snack that is simple to make and tastes good too. You can serve them with some grilled salted green chilies and green chutney or sweet chutney. This flawless combo can also be served with Indian chai.
